RUBANDA: The State Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi has rewarded over 100 pupils who excelled in the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) with brand new mattresses in Rubanda District.

Minister Musasizi, who also serves as the Rubanda East Member of Parliament and NRM Chairperson for Rubanda District, has made it a tradition to reward top-performing PLE candidates with mattresses annually.

Minister Musasizi believes in formally acknowledging the diligent efforts of school Pupils who achieve excellent results, thereby inspiring others in lower classes to strive for academic excellence.

Every year, each P.7 candidate from Rubanda East who achieves a division one score receives a mattress from Minister Musasizi as they prepare for secondary school.

Yesterday, over 100 pupils from Bubare Sub County, Bubare Town Council, Hamuhambo Town Council, Hamurwa Sub County, Hamurwa Town Council, and Nyamweru Sub County were presented with mattresses as a token of recognition for attaining division one in the 2023 PLE exams.

The pupils, accompanied by their parents, eagerly gathered at distribution centers in their respective sub-counties. The distribution events were graced by political leaders and head teachers alike.

Pius Tumwesigye, the Bubare Sub County LC.3 Chairperson, observed a significant increase in the number of mattresses distributed each year, attributing it partly to the pupils’ aspiration to excel and receive mattresses from their local Member of Parliament.

“In the initial years, Hon. Musasizi would procure only 5-10 mattresses for the entire Bubare Sub County, but now we witness carloads of mattresses. This demonstrates the profound impact of his initiative on the pupils,” remarked Mr. Tumwesigye.

Mbabazi Andrew, the Headteacher of Rweere Primary School, acknowledged Minister Musasizi’s contribution to the education sector by providing pre-mock exams for all primary schools in Rubanda East. He emphasized the significance of these exams in assessing pupils’ preparedness for subsequent assessments.
