RUKUNGIRI: Authorities at Kashenyi Secondary School in Rukungiri District have appealed to the government to enroll more teaching staff on the payroll to reduce the financial burden.
According to Canon Wycliffe Makky Twinomujuni, the school headteacher, out of 47 staff members, only 19 are on the government payroll. The remaining 28 teachers are supported by parents, creating a significant financial strain.
Twinomujuni also mentioned that the school lacks sufficient infrastructure to accommodate the growing student enrollment. Additionally, he expressed the need for the government to provide more computers to combat computer illiteracy among students. The school currently has 31 computers, which are inadequate for the 1,052 students enrolled.
