As Senior Four candidates across the country sit for their Biology Practical Paper on Tuesday, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued a strong reminder urging all candidates to uphold discipline and integrity during the examination period.
According to UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the Board has received reports from some schools indicating early signs of indiscipline among certain candidates.
She emphasized that such behavior, if not checked, could amount to examination malpractice, which attracts serious penalties.
“The Board cautions candidates against involvement in improper behavior such as tearing of books and papers, fighting, drinking alcohol, using drugs, abusing fellow students, teachers, or invigilators, and any other conduct that goes against school rules and examination regulations,” Kalule-Musamba stated.
She further noted that acts such as making noise, disobeying invigilators, damaging school property, or any violent behavior that disrupts examinations will not be tolerated.
“Candidates involved in such acts risk disqualification, arrest, and possible barring from sitting any other UNEB examinations”. She said.
Kalule-Musamba encouraged all candidates to remain calm, focused, and law-abiding as they continue with their national examinations, reminding them that discipline and honesty are essential for both personal success and the credibility of the national assessment process.
“Let every candidate remember that integrity during examinations is a reflection of the values we uphold as a country,” she added.
Meanwhile, UNEB confirmed that after today’s Biology Practical Paper, most candidates will take a short break before resuming with their elective papers next week.
The Board has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that examinations are conducted smoothly and fairly across all centers.
