KAMPALA- The Uganda national examination board (UNEB) has withheld results of 113 candidates that sat for 2022 UACE Examinations.
According to UNEB, a total of 97,890 candidates registered for the 2022 UACE examination from 1,969 centers compared to 98,392 candidates from 1,952 centers in 2020.
The official release of results was presided over by the state minister for Higher Education, Hon. J.C Muyingo on behalf of the minister of Education and sports Janet Museveni at Office of the President Conference Hall in Kampala.
According to the Executive director of UNEB, Mr Dan Odong, in accordance with Section 4 (3) of the UNEB Act, 2021, UNEB has withheld results of 113 candidates.
Mr Odong said that UNEB will accord the affected candidates a fair hearing before passing a final verdict.
Mr Odong said “For a minimum of two Principals required for university admission, 70.3% candidates have qualified compared to 69.8% in 2020. However, there was a slight drop in entries for the examination in 2022.” He said
An analysis of the overall candidates’ performance in the examination shows that a very high percentage of candidates (99.2%) qualified for the award of the UACE, just as was in 2020.
However, Mr Odong said that candidates at lower levels demonstrated adequate to basic mastery of the subject matter, their performance was undermined by misunderstanding of questions, inability to describe, explain interpret offer logical arguments/ illustrations and specific examples to qualify their answers
