The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Engineers Brigade is in the final stages of constructing a two-classroom block at Kanyankwanzi Primary School in Kitumba Sub County, Ndorwa West County, Kabale District, bringing renewed hope to learners and the surrounding community.

The project, which commenced on November 16, 2025, is now 72 percent complete, with plastering works nearing completion. Remaining tasks include painting and flooring, which are expected to be finalized within the coming days.

Speaking at the site, the Acting Site Engineer, Warrant Officer Two Byekwaso Robert, said the team encountered early challenges after demolishing the old classroom block, as additional hardcore was required to stabilize the ground. Despite this setback, he noted that steady progress has been made.

“In about two weeks’ time, by December 28, we shall be able to hand over the completed structure,” WO2 Byekwaso said. He added that the project has also benefited the local community through the employment of casual laborers.
