The Kabale District Returning Officer, Aisha Nansubuga, has officially nominated Central Division LC5 councillor, Leopold Twesigye, to contest for the position of LC3 Chairman, Central Division in Kabale Municipality on the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) ticket.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his nomination, Twesigye faulted the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) for failing to harmonize National Identification Numbers (NINs) with the Electoral Commission. He said this discrepancy had led to the disqualification of some of his supporters during the nomination exercise.
He stressed the importance of working closely with other municipal authorities to raise the profile of Kabale Municipality.
Twesigye, who also serves as the Leader of Opposition in Kabale District Council, rallied supporters from different opposition parties to unite and focus on grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2026 general elections.
He further commended the opposition coalition’s decision to back Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) President, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, as their joint presidential candidate, saying the move would build stronger resistance against the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
