NAMIREMBE – In a heartwarming gesture, the Most Rev Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda, led the flagging off ceremony for the distribution of vital medical supplies to all 256 health facilities established by the Church of Uganda.
The generous donation of these medical supplies was made possible by the benevolent contribution of Barnabas Fund UK.
The donated medical supplies include a range of essential items: 7,873 Moyville Reusable Gowns, 11,900 O’neill Scrub Suit Pants, 15,675 O’neill Scrub Suit Tops, 240,000 Bbraun Surgical Mask Type 11r, 720,000 Arco Disposable Aprons, 28,800 Eye lock Goggles, and 21,600 Skl Face Shields. These much-needed supplies will undoubtedly go a long way in bolstering the healthcare capacity of the Church of Uganda’s facilities.
Among the 256 health facilities supported by the Church of Uganda, there are 16 Hospitals, 7 Health Centre IVs, 119 Health Centre IIIs, and 114 Health Centre IIs. This extensive network of healthcare institutions serves various communities across Uganda, and the donation will play a vital role in enhancing their ability to provide quality healthcare services.
During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Church of Uganda had applied for medical supplies but faced significant delays due to logistical challenges. However, with the unwavering support of the Ministry of Health and national medical stores, the much-needed medical supplies finally reached Uganda, ready to make a difference in the lives of countless individuals.
In his address, Archbishop Kaziimba expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry of Health for their collaboration and assistance in clearing the items, as well as to the national medical stores for providing storage upon arrival. He emphasized the importance of using the medical supplies responsibly and appropriately, ensuring they reach the intended beneficiaries and are utilized effectively.
In his call to action, the Archbishop urged all administrators involved in the distribution process to maintain transparency and accountability. By doing so, they can ensure that the medical supplies reach those who need them the most, thus maximizing the positive impact on the healthcare services provided by the Church of Uganda.
This act of compassion and dedication to the well-being of the people of Uganda is a shining example of how a community can come together to support one another during challenging times.
