Mpungu Health Center III in Mpungu Parish, Hamurwa Sub County, Rubanda district on Thursday received a major boost in healthcare service delivery following the donation of a smart hybrid solar system valued at Shs 30 million by the Insurance Training College (ITC) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The newly installed 3000 KVA hybrid solar system includes an advanced solar inverter (200 Ah), six batteries, and eight 520-watt solar panels. It is expected to provide consistent and reliable power, enabling the health facility to offer uninterrupted services, especially during nighttime and emergencies.

The donation was made after the Minister of Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, approached ITC requesting support to improve conditions at Mpungu HCIII. An assessment conducted by the ITC revealed that the facility’s previous solar system had been damaged by lightning, creating an urgent need for a replacement.

During the commissioning ceremony, Minister Musasizi reaffirmed his dedication to improving healthcare services in the region. He announced that Shs 120 million has already been secured for the renovation of the health center, in addition to Shs 150 million previously allocated for medical equipment, including maternity beds.
