At least 700 pregnant mothers in Kabale District have benefited from the Maama Kit Plus distribution under the “Safe Motherhood Cycle” campaign, an initiative spearheaded by Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament, Dr. Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara.

The distribution of the Maama Kit Plus is a key component of the Safe Motherhood Cycle, aimed at ensuring safe deliveries for expectant mothers in the region. Each kit includes essential items such as cotton wool, 250ml of Jik, delivery mats, gauze rolls, surgical gloves, surgical blades, maternity pads, child health growth cards, and soap.

Dr. Kamara explained that the introduction of the Maama Kit Plus is part of a broader effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality in the area. He also noted that approximately 30 percent of the beneficiaries are from outside Kabale Municipality, highlighting the program’s wider regional impact.

In addition to distributing the kits, Dr. Kamara donated ultrasound machines to four healthcare facilities within Kabale Municipality: Rushoroza Hospital, Kamukiira Health Centre IV, Rugarama Hospital, and Kirigime Health Centre III. This move is part of his broader goal to transform and improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.
