According to Solomon Nokrach, the Executive Director of NUYEN, the organization will also provide HIV and TB testing in the project areas. Nokrach added that moonlight testing in bars will be conducted to support the government’s efforts in improving health service delivery.
“We also intend to sensitize the community on malaria prevention and control,” Nokrach said. He noted that the project aims to establish modern, smart homes that do not support the breeding of mosquitoes.

John Bosco Komakech, the Kitgum Vector Control Officer, highlighted that malaria remains a significant threat to Ugandans, with pregnant mothers and children being the most vulnerable groups.
Komakech commended NUYEN for collaborating with the government in combating the disease. He revealed that malaria accounts for 40% of cases reported at outpatient departments (OPDs) across the district.
Komakech also appealed to malaria patients to complete their treatment doses and make proper use of mosquito nets to help eradicate the disease.
