RUBANDA: Authorities in Rubanda District led by LC5 Chairperson, Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, have handed over a new maternity ward at Bwindi Health Center III in Nyamweru Sub County at a cost Ugx 149 Million shillings.
During a function held at the facility premises, Kasyaba promised the people of Nyamweru that the newly constructed maternity ward would be restocked with all necessary equipment to reduce the mortality rate.
However, Kasyaba called upon the general community of Nyamweru to utilize the new structures by reducing the number of home births and the risks associated with self-delivery.
The District Health Officer, Dr. Abdon Birungi, applauded the health workers at the facility for their tremendous work.
Dr. Birungi added that the facility has been conducting a minimum of 40 deliveries and over 900 outpatient visits on a monthly basis.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Kwizera Alex, thanked the director of Andwyc Co. Ltd, who contracted the project, for consistently delivering quality work despite various challenges.
The Resident District Commissioner, Eric Sewandigi, called upon the general community to be vigilant about security in their area.
He emphasized that LC1s should work hand in hand with security officials to curb insecurity in the region.
