Parents across Uganda are increasingly concerned over reports of wealthy young people identifying themselves as Abasayika, allegedly a group associated with devil worship and suspected recruitment of unsuspecting youths in different cities.
The emerging claims have sparked anxiety among families, with questions being raised about the activities, sources of wealth and intentions of individuals reportedly operating under the name Abasayika.
What has particularly puzzled many parents is the lifestyle of some of the young people allegedly associated with the group. Despite having no publicly known jobs or established businesses, they are reportedly seen driving expensive vehicles, living lavishly and spending money generously.

Some of the claims suggest that these individuals use their financial influence to attract other young people, particularly those struggling financially or seeking quick opportunities to improve their lifestyles.
Parents fear that the promise of money, expensive entertainment and an apparently luxurious lifestyle could make vulnerable youths easy targets for recruitment into questionable associations.
The allegations have also raised broader concerns about the influence of secretive groups on young people, especially in urban areas where financial pressure, unemployment and the desire for social status can expose individuals to exploitation.
However, the claims surrounding Abasayika have not been independently verified, and there is no publicly established evidence confirming that the group is involved in devil worship or organised recruitment.
Authorities and relevant investigative agencies would need to establish the group’s actual activities, membership and sources of funding before conclusions can be drawn.

Meanwhile, parents are being encouraged to maintain open communication with their children, pay attention to sudden changes in behaviour and investigate suspicious financial offers without resorting to accusations based on rumours.
The biggest question remains: Who are the Abasayika, where does their unexplained wealth come from, and are vulnerable Ugandan youths being drawn into a dangerous network under the attraction of easy money and luxury?
