Thirteen passengers have been injured after a vehicle they were travelling in reportedly lost control and plunged into River Nyangak in Zombo District, Police have said.

According to Police, the accident occurred at about 12:45pm on Monday at Nyangak River in Zombo District.

The Director of Traffic and Road Safety spokesperson, SP Michael Kananura, confirmed the incident and attributed it to overspeeding.

“The crash involved motor vehicle registration number UBJ 956G, a drone. The driver was travelling from Hoima to Alangi in Zombo. Upon reaching the river, he reportedly failed to brake while speeding, lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the river,” Kananura said.

He added that all the 13 occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, sustained injuries.
