KABALE-The territorial police in Kabale district have arrested a 78-year-old-man for allegedly having carnal knowledge with his 13 years old grand daughter
The suspect has been identified as Edward Katarikawe a resident of Kagona village, Kavu parish, Maziba sub county in Kabale district.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson told journalists that the incident took place in the morning hours of 11/03/2023 at around 08:00am at the Kagona village when the girl had been sent by the mother to the neighborhood to get beans and along the way, the victim aged 13 met the grandfather who forcefully pulled her to the banana plantation and defiled her.
Maate said that during the process of defiling her, the grandfather was red handed by a neighbor and took off.
Maate narrated that the report was made at Maziba police post and the suspect was immediately arrested and charged accordingly.
He asserted that inquiries are ongoing, upon completion, the suspect will be produced before courts of law.
According to Maate, a case of aggravated by defilement has been registered at Kabale central police station under reference number CRB 217/2023.
