The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, concluded the sixth week of his campaign trail on Saturday in Ntungamo District, describing the journey as “one of agony” following clashes in Bwizibwera on Friday.

Speaking to supporters in Ntungamo Town, Kyagulanyi said the struggles faced by the party were the “ultimate price” for achieving freedom.

“Ntungamo district marks the end of our sixth week since we began our campaign trail. It’s been a journey of agony given what happened yesterday at Bwizibwera. But we know this is the ultimate price we must pay to achieve freedom,” he said.

He emphasized the message of unity, urging residents to reject divisive narratives pushed by the regime.

“Our message to Ntungamo is centered on unity. We will not allow ourselves to be divided by the oppressor. Our strength lies in our unity,” Kyagulanyi said.

Addressing a crowd along Kaguta Road in the town center, he encouraged residents to face oppression together, dismissing the regime’s attempts to pit regions and tribes against one another.

“A youth in Busoga, a youth in Buganda, and a youth here in Ntungamo face the same challenges. No one is better than the other. Uganda as a whole suffers under a heavy hand of oppression. This is what we want to change, and we can do it together,” he said.

Despite his official rally being diverted 6 km away to Ruhoko Primary School due to disruptions, Kyagulanyi addressed the people in the town center after opening a new office near Ntungamo Central Market.

“Our rally venue was interrupted. Some people used violence against our supporters, but we are still here, and we are still addressing you. I urge you to vote out the regime and give hope to the young people of Uganda. We shall soon see all this ending,” he said.

Kyagulanyi was accompanied by his wife, Barbara Itungo, a native of Ntungamo District. Speaking in a mix of Runyankole/Rukiga and Luganda, he appealed to locals to support her as First Lady.

“My in-laws, I ask for a chance to vote for the First Lady. Please vote here for your First Lady. This is your chance to have the First Lady again,” he said.
