Sedrack Nzaire Nowomugisha has officially withdrawn his candidature from the race for National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Vice Chairman – Western Uganda.
In a statement addressed to party members and the people of Uganda on Thursday Evening, Nowomugisha said his decision followed extensive consultations with the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), chaired by President Yoweri Museveni.
“After broad consultations with the Central Executive Committee, I have agreed to withdraw my candidature from the race for NRM National Vice Chairman – Western Uganda,” he said.
Nowomugisha explained that the decision was made in the interest of party unity and harmonization, emphasizing that personal ambition should give way to the collective good of the party and the country.
“As a loyal cadre of the NRM, I firmly believe that personal ambition must always give way to the collective good of the Party and the Country. It is in this spirit that I have taken this step, confident that it best serves the stability and cohesion of our Party,” he added.
He extended best wishes to the remaining candidates in the race and urged all Ugandan’s to continue supporting the NRM as the vehicle for the country’s progress and transformation.
