The Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction and 12-year, 3-month, and 3-day custodial sentence handed to Wamala Godfrey, alias Troy, for the unlawful killing of celebrated musician Mozey Radio (real name Ssekibogo Moses) in 2018.
The decision, delivered on Friday, 20th June 2025, was made by a three-judge panel comprising Justices C. Gashirabake, Dr. Asa Mugenyi, and J.M. Musisi. The ruling affirms the earlier judgment issued by Justice Jane Frances Abodo.
The conviction stems from a violent incident at Debar, a bar in Entebbe, where eyewitnesses testified that Troy grabbed Mozey Radio during a scuffle and forcefully slammed him onto a concrete floor.
The singer sustained a serious head injury and later died as a result.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) successfully defended the conviction through Chief State Attorneys Kyomuhendo Joseph and Keko Joan.
The Court’s decision validates the prosecution’s evidence and reinforces justice for one of Uganda’s most cherished musical talents.
Mozey Radio, who was one half of the award-winning duo Radio and Weasel, is remembered for his lyrical genius and his transformative impact on Uganda’s music scene.
His tragic death triggered nationwide grief and renewed calls for accountability and safety within nightlife venues.
