KAMPALA: The Buganda Road Court has issued an international arrest warrant for Isaac Ssemakadde, the President of the Uganda Law Society, directing Interpol to arrest him.
Ssemakadde’s current whereabouts remain unknown. The warrant was issued by Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayizzi following a request from private prosecutors Tonny Tumukunde and Joshua Byamazima.
The two lawyers had earlier petitioned the court to arrest Ssemakadde on charges of insulting the modesty of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Jane Frances Abodo.
On Wednesday, they formally applied for his arrest through Interpol, arguing that he was evading justice outside the country. Magistrate Kayizzi, upon reviewing the request, ruled in their favor, stating that he was convinced Ssemakadde was on the run.
As a result, Interpol has been instructed to apprehend him immediately upon sight.
