KABALE – Police in Kabale District are Probing Circumstances under a trailer with the license plate number UAS 134R, loaded with maize destined for the World Food Programme, became engulfed in flames.
The incident took place within Katuna Town Council, situated in Kabale District On August 16th, 2023, at approximately 11:00 AM in Mayengo near the Katuna border, a distressing incident occurred.
Elly Maate, the spokesperson for the Kigezi Region Police, provided insights into the unfortunate event.
The Kigezi fire and rescue unit promptly responded to the emergency, however, their efforts were hindered by the fact that the fire brigade trucks at the scene were out of commission.
Maate added that despite continuous efforts to bring these trucks back into service, they remained inoperable, impeding the firefighting efforts.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was attributed to a motor vehicle wiring issue.
Fortunately, no loss of life was reported as a result of this incident.
