Police have transferred five suspects in the ongoing Kisoro District corruption investigation to Kampala for further interrogation.

The suspects are being investigated over allegations of soliciting and receiving money from job applicants in exchange for purported assistance in securing employment in Kisoro District Local Government.

The operation follows investigations into allegations that money was demanded from job seekers in exchange for influencing recruitment and appointment processes by the District Service Commission.

The suspects were first brought together at the Kisoro District Health Boardroom before being taken to Kisoro Central Police Station, where their relatives gathered to see them off as they were transferred to Kampala.

The Anti-Corruption Unit said investigations are at an advanced stage and the suspects are expected to be charged before the Anti-Corruption Court once investigations are complete.

The public has also been urged to come forward and report any additional cases in which they were allegedly asked to pay, or actually paid, money to the suspects or other individuals in connection with securing jobs in Kisoro District.
