According to police, on the evening of July 17, 2025, around 9:00 PM, the deceased was returning home from Mazoridi Trading Center. Near the “keep left” junction close to Mazoridi Primary School, he was ambushed by the four suspects. Musinguzi was able to identify them, as they all come from his village.

The suspects reportedly attacked him with an unknown object, causing him to fall. One of the suspects then took Musinguzi’s phone from his pocket and called his aunt, Dianah, who rushed to the scene and took him to Katate Health Center IV. From there, he was referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, and subsequently to Mulago Hospital. Sadly, Musinguzi passed away on Saturday.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that a postmortem examination conducted at Mulago City Mortuary revealed that Musinguzi’s spinal cord had been severed.

Maate stated that after receiving news of the death, police promptly arrested the suspects who are now pending prosecution. He urged residents to refrain from acts of lawlessness and to resolve disputes through legal channels rather than taking the law into their own hands.
