Government has extended the deadline for the completion of infrastructure works at Namanve Industrial Park from September 2025 to December 30, 2026, to allow contractors and technical teams to resolve persistent challenges that have delayed progress.
The announcement was made on Saturday by the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury (PSST), Ramathan Ggoobi, during a monitoring visit to the park. He was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) and a team from the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) led by Director General Robert Mukiza.
Ggoobi emphasized that this would be the final extension, warning that all works must be completed within the new timeframe.
“We have given this extension to allow full completion of the works. There will be no excuse for failure this time,” he said.
The infrastructure under construction includes roads, drainage systems, and other utilities needed to make the park fully operational.
Ggoobi also revealed that his office will soon convene a meeting with stakeholders from other major projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Bukasa Port, and the Kampala–Jinja Expressway.
The meeting, he said, will help sequence activities to ensure they do not disrupt progress at the park.
The Uganda Investment Authority confirmed that all project-affected persons have already been compensated, giving the contractor, Lagan Dott Namanve Ltd, full access to the industrial park.
Located in Mukono and Wakiso districts, Namanve Industrial Park is Uganda’s largest industrial hub, expected to host more than 300 factories and create thousands of jobs upon completion.
