GUN EXCHANGE: UPDF Kills 11 ADF Rebels in Ntoroko.

At least Eleven suspected Allied Democratic Forces-ADF in Ntoroko District have been put out of Action in a gun exchange with the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).

The Eleven are among the estimated 20-30 ADF fighters crossed River Semuliki into Kyanja in Ntoroko district on Monday night.

According to the Defence Public Relations Officer Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye, upon the arrival of ADF, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) intelligence got wind of them and they were intercepted.

Kulaigye explains that a fight is on to decisively deal with the group.

Mugabirwe Edward, the Ntoroko Resident District Commissioner, the suspected ADF rebels entered the affected villages at around 5am and started shooting at civilians, injuring about three people by 7am.

Mugabirwe adds, the attack happened in an area just over 3 kilometers from River Semliki at the border of Uganda with DR Congo and that since then, exchange of gunfire between UPDF soldiers and ADF rebels in areas of Kayanja and Kyobe villages in Bweramule Sub County has been on.

He confirmed that police and UPDF soldiers are now commanding efforts to repel the attackers to normalize the situation.
