KABALE:
The international community of Banyakigezi (ICOB) Uganda in partnership with Kigezi Oweitu Foundation in a bid to give back to the community is set to hold a two-day professionals camp in December in Kabale district dubbed Kigezi where people will be given free services.
Sandra Ndyomugyenyi the Presidential legal advisor who is also the President of Kigezi Oweitu/Kigezi our mother land says the camp is aimed at giving back to the community saying that there a number of Banyakigezi who are successful in their professions but detached from home.
She says that the professionals from kigezi have been less, unproductive in the community as in old times it took a village to raise a child. The success of this child therefore became that of the village; it was the pride of the community to have a doctor, lawyer.
“This basically meant free or subsided consultations for community members, improved services and infrastructures etc Slowly we have lost this sense of accountability hence bridging a huge gap between the elite those living in the city and those back home/most of them living under poverty lines”. Said Ndyomugyenyi.
Ndyomugyenyi says that the two-day professional camps will be held from 27th to 28th December 2022 at Kabale Golf club Grounds where the Former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi will be the gust of honour
She says that the services that will be offered Include Medical services. Legal Services, Labour Export Services, Financial Services/Investments and Agricultural services were.
She says that the goal of the camp is to create a sense of accountability to our community that will in turn bridge the gaps between the successful and rich and community created by anonymous forces as this will eventually build a strong, informed, profound community that will slowly aid in an escape from poverty as the bible mentions” knowledge is power.”
“We have to develop our region no one will come from outside as we have two borders of Rwanda and DRC now that the road to DRC is to be constructed those are business opportunities that will be opened for the people in the region as I call upon all the Banyakigezi to come back and invest home “. Said Ndyomugyenyi.
Grace Mugabirwe Mutebile the President of ICOB –U says they have not been holding the annual international community of the Banyakigezi –ICOB U that is held every December of the year for the last 3 years due to the Covid 19 epidemics that hit the world.
Mutebile says that they are now this year partnering with Sandra Ndyomugyenyi of Kigezi Oweitu to have a professional’s camp where the Banyakigezi from various professions are to give free services to the people as way of giving back to the people of Kigezi.
She says that the Ngorogoza Education fund has already begun as 6 girls from the six districts of kigezi have already been enrolled as they are studying at Kabale University.
