Kabale District Muslims Blame Museveni for Neglecting Them

KABALE: The greater Kabale district Muslim leaders have faulted president Museveni for neglecting the Muslims in the region in the past years of his reign, citing that the country head has never honored any invitation calling him in the mosque functions.

This was unveiled ton Sunday 15th January 2023 at the swearing in function of the district council and committees for Ankole-Kigezi Muslim region which was held at Kabale Muslim district headquarters mosque, Masjid Kirigime which is located in Kirigime ward, southern division Kabale municipality.

 

While delivering his speech, the incoming chairman Kabale Muslim District Hajji Issah Tindyebwa said that since president Museveni came into the leadership he has never stepped any single step at any of their Muslim community in greater Kabale district and Kigezi at large despite several invitations to their functions.

He added that the president has been sending representative to them which he says as Muslims are being left out on many different government programs and being informed late to achieve anything.

 

He further highlighted challenges that they are mostly facing as Muslims such as their only Muslim health Centre III is not receiving any support from the government in terms of PHC and their only single aided secondary school in greater Kabale has no library and laboratory.

 

The State Minister of Finance (General Duties) Henry Musasizi who was the chief guest while delivering his speech, promised the Muslims community to submit their requests to president Museveni and informed them that they should not worry much even him as a minister whenever he goes he presents the president

He requested Muslim council to write to the district LC V requesting a library and a laboratory for their school and as a minister he will ensure that the school shall get them. He asked the elected leaders to always promote unity and cooperation within their activities in order to develop their region. Minister Musasiizi has contributed UGx 5 million towards the construction of the house of district Kadhi.

 

The area member of parliament for Kabale municipality Dr Nicholas Kamara who attended the same function also pledged his support Muslims and donated a Ugx 12M Ultrasound scan to Muslim health facility alias Kirigime HC III and Ugx 2 million to the construction of district Kadhi residential house.
