Police in Kabale District have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a local mechanic, who was found dead with deep cuts on his head in Rugarama Pida Cell, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Rubanza Juma, a resident of Upper Bugongi Ward. His body was discovered early Thursday morning by a passerby who noticed it lying among eucalyptus trees along the Rugarama–Pida route.
According to police, the witness immediately alerted the deceased’s family members, who later reported the incident to Kabale Central Police Station. A team of officers, led by the District Police Commander and supported by the canine unit, responded swiftly to the scene.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson says that the area was cordoned off and a sniffer dog helped track down five suspects who were arrested from a nearby pork joint to assist in investigations.
Maate said that Police also recovered key exhibits, including a blood-stained T-shirt, a pair of shoes, and a sandal believed to be linked to the suspects.
He urged members of the public to share any information that could help identify those responsible for the murder, emphasizing that the suspects will face the full force of the law once investigations are complete.
