KISORO- The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajji Shafiq Sekandi has warned School head teachers and parents who are sending their children to school for lessons during the holiday.
The comments come following a familiarization tour of Muramba Sub County of monitoring Government programs.
During the visit, the Kisoro RDC Shafiq Sekandi landed on pupils of Kampfizi primary school engaged in studies.
Sekandi says Primary four, five and six were being taught by their teachers which is a direct contravention of the rules from Ministry of Education and Sports.
Sekandi says he had to close the school immediately and directed that the teachers present report to the Police on Monday to make Statements.
Kampfizi Primary School is a government aided school in Muramba Sub County, Kisoro district.
Irankunda Annah, the head teacher of Kampfizi Primary School, who is away on study leave at Nkumba University says her school was closed and the teachers present were asked to make Police statements.
Irankunda said the RDC needs to be lenient as parent and understand that the classes of primary four, five and six is most age group vulnerable to dropping out of school.
She noted that some of the girls had previously left school because pregnancies however they are now interested in learning, so the RDC needs to be understanding.
A survey conducted by Our reporter reveals that most schools, Government aided and private are conducting holiday classes.
According to the Education Ministry, the school year of 2023 will begin 6th February.
