Police in Kasese District are investigating the suspected murder of a 43-year-old woman whose body was found in her house in Karambi Village, Kasese District.
Kabugho Isebitsange, a resident of Karambi Village, was found dead in her bedroom on the morning of September 15, according to police.
Rwenzori East regional police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said the incident was reported at about 7:30am after a resident who was looking for grass near the deceased’s home noticed that the house was closed and smoke was coming from inside.
The resident knocked on the door and called out to Kabugho but received no response. He alerted neighbours, who forced the door open and found her naked body lying on the bed, with charcoal burning inside the house.
The neighbours raised an alarm and alerted members of the public, including the area chairperson, who reported the matter to Karambi Police Station.
Police examined and documented the scene before retrieving the body and taking it to Bwera Hospital for a postmortem.
According to Maate, the body had bruises on the neck, cheeks, chest, right armpit, left thigh and left leg.
Police said Kabugho had separated from her husband a long time ago, but the two allegedly continued to have conflicts.
“Investigations into the matter are still ongoing to establish the motive,” Maate said.
