The King of Tooro Kingdom, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has urged the people of Tooro to remain united and guard against divisions based on tribe or nationality.
Speaking during his ongoing county tours across Tooro Kingdom on Tuesday, King Oyo thanked the people of Kyaka for warmly welcoming him and reaffirmed that Tooro Kingdom land belongs to the people of Tooro.
He cautioned individuals against evicting or discriminating against others, emphasizing harmony and shared ownership.
In a major development initiative, the King announced the commencement of an agricultural project aimed at distributing coffee and cocoa seedlings to farmers across the kingdom.
He appreciated the Government of Uganda for partnering with Tooro Kingdom to implement the project, which he said will boost household incomes and promote sustainable agriculture.
While visiting Fort Portal Tourism City, King Oyo encouraged residents to embrace environmental conservation, particularly by planting the right tree species and protecting water bodies and wetlands to maintain a clean and green city.
During the same visit, the King confirmed new Fort Portal City County Chiefs, tasking them to mobilize communities towards achieving the Kingdom’s Development Agenda.
He also officially commissioned KRC TV and Radio, commending the leadership of Hon. Alex Ruhunda and his team for their contribution to the region’s progress.
King Oyo reaffirmed his commitment to promoting unity, development, and environmental sustainability throughout Tooro Kingdom.
