The Kisoro District Council has launched an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of Shs30 million earmarked for the repair of the LC5 Chairman’s official vehicle.
The move was initiated under the leadership of District Speaker Amos Hakizimana, who formed a special committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the missing funds. The committee comprises Agaba James (Councilor for Southern Division), Godfrey Rukara (Nyakabande Sub-county), Juliet Kamusiime (Nyanamo Town Council), Nyakato Diana (Nyakinama Sub-county), and David Sebagabo, Clerk to Council.
The official vehicle in question, a government-registered car bearing number UG 3185R, was reportedly taken to a garage in Kampala over four years ago. However, it never returned to service. Just days before a scheduled council meeting on Thursday, the vehicle was discovered abandoned at the Kisoro Municipal Yard. It was found stripped of key components, including the engine, air cleaner, and crankshaft, raising further questions about the use of the allocated repair funds.
Speaker Hakizimana directed the committee to thoroughly investigate the matter and present comprehensive findings to the council.

Meanwhile, LC5 Chairman Abel Bizimana has urged for a swift resolution to the allegations. He emphasized the importance of addressing the issue so he can focus on service delivery during his final term in office.
Bizimana stressed that effective monitoring and administration, especially in a district with challenging terrain, depends on reliable transport. He decried what he called an “ongoing narrative fueled by insensitivity,” and appealed for objectivity and calm, even invoking divine intervention to guide the process.
