The Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament, Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu, who lost the NRM flag to his rival, Asgario Turyagyenda has rejected the election results, citing inaccuracies in the party register in Kisoro District.

Turyagyenda garnered 16,495 votes (55%), defeating Kwizera, who received 13,582 votes (45%). Kwizera, who has represented the constituency for 15 years, cited widespread voter intimidation, inaccuracies in the party register and the inclusion of underage individuals in voting lines as reasons for disputing the results.

He announced that he will contest as an independent candidate in the 2026 general elections.

In Bufumbira East Constituency, Dr. Adrian Dungu Niyimpa, who polled 243 votes (0.7%), also rejected the election outcome, alleging serious irregularities and violence. He accused rival camps of threatening and beating his supporters and polling agents, allowing underage individuals to vote in multiple lines, and using an outdated party register.
