A 35-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband after a drinking spree in Biizi Village, Biizi Parish, Murora Sub-county in Kisoro District on Thursday night.

The deceased, identified as Uwimana Sharriloti, also known as Beberi, reportedly belonged to the Batwa community.

Residents said the couple had been drinking at Biizi Trading Centre on Thursday before the husband, identified as Robert Banyanga, left the woman at the centre.

According to the residents, Banyanga later returned with sharp objects, triggering a fight with his wife before he allegedly fled into the Echuya Forest.

Robert Bakeine, a relative of the deceased, and other residents said the couple frequently quarrelled, especially after consuming alcohol.
