The acting town clerk of Luwa Town Council in Namisindwa District has been charged with abuse of office over an alleged irregular land purchase involving Shs40 million.

Kurobe Samuel was on Friday arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court after investigations by the Anti-Corruption Unit, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID). He was remanded until August 13, 2026.

Prosecution alleges that Luwa Town Council received Shs150 million for the purchase of land and construction of administrative offices, of which Shs40 million was reportedly used to acquire land in Kungu Cell, Bunambobi Ward.

Investigators, however, claim the purchase was conducted without following the required procurement procedures and without an official valuation of the land.
