State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has called on political leaders to maintain active oversight of the government’s wealth creation initiatives, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), despite the heightened demands of ongoing electoral campaigns.

Minister Musasizi, who also serves as Rubanda East MP and NRM Chairperson for Rubanda District, made the remarks while addressing victorious youth and women leaders from the recently concluded NRM sub county elections. The event was held at Volcano Hotel in Rubanda Town Council on Thursday.

“As State Minister of Finance, my duty is to remind you that our wealth creation programs are still in motion and require your engagement,” Minister Musasizi said. “We must not lose sight of these initiatives, even during campaign seasons.”

He emphasized the government’s substantial investment in such programs, noting that over Shs. 2 trillion is allocated annually. Of this, each of Uganda’s 105,894 parishes receives Shs. 100 million.

“In Rubanda District alone, more than Shs. 14.6 billion has been disbursed,” he added. “These funds are already in the hands of community members implementing various projects. It is our collective responsibility to monitor how this money is used and guide beneficiaries to ensure it contributes to improving household incomes.”

Minister Musasizi also reiterated the importance of embracing the government’s mass line approach to service delivery, which seeks to provide inclusive and equitable access to public services for all citizens.

“When we talk about the mass line, we mean services that reach every Ugandan, without discrimination,” he explained. “Whether it’s immunization, education, healthcare, or socio-economic development, access must be universal.”
