Minister of Finance (General Duties), Henry Musasizi, has underscored the importance of unity within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and urged party delegates in Rubanda District to reject sectarianism and divisionism.

Minister Musasizi, who was re-elected as the Rubanda District NRM Chairman on Friday with an impressive 503 votes, pledged to work tirelessly for the collective progress of the district and the party.

He called on voters and party members to embrace a unified approach toward Rubanda’s development, stressing that his re-election offers continuity for the NRM in the district.

Minister Musasizi said this stability provides a firm foundation for advancing the development agenda under the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, while also strengthening grassroots mobilization.

“During this term, the focus will be on effectively navigating both the political and developmental priorities of the district under the NRM banner,” he stated.

Meanwhile, NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, has called upon the newly elected party structure leaders to foster unity, uphold democratic principles, and champion economic progress in their communities.

Speaking to leaders from Nwoya and Gulu districts on Friday evening, Todwong urged them to carry out their leadership duties responsibly.

“Be peaceful among yourselves and concentrate on issues that take the party forward,” he advised. Using a vivid analogy, Todwong warned, “A dog, however big and fierce, cannot defend a home if it’s infested with ticks. It will keep scratching itself instead of guarding against intruders.”

He likened this to a political party bogged down by internal conflicts, unable to tackle external challenges or effectively serve its people.

He firmly cautioned against internal plots aimed at derailing the party’s objectives.

“We don’t want any schemes of hijacking the party,” Todwong declared emphatically. “As long as I am the SG, I will fight that to my last breath.”

He emphasized that Uganda’s prevailing peace and stability are a result of the “quality leadership of President Museveni,” and urged party members to safeguard these achievements.

Todwong concluded by calling for a spirit of reconciliation following the internal electoral processes and encouraged the public to support and accept the newly elected leaders.
