The Minister of Finance (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, has reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating key development projects in Rubanda East Constituency after securing the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Speaking to journalists on Friday at the Rubanda District headquarters, Minister Musasizi promised to prioritize the upgrade of tourism roads, lobby for the establishment of a technical school, expand access to clean water, and promote President Yoweri Museveni’s wealth creation agenda in his next term.
Musasizi was declared the official flag bearer by the Rubanda District NRM returning officer, Monday Aggrey, after emerging victorious in a hotly contested primary. He polled 22,538 votes, beating his closest rival, Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, who garnered 18,832 votes. Other contenders, Pierre Mbabazi and Israel Atuheire, trailed with 11 and 39 votes respectively.
“This victory is not mine alone. It is a reflection of our shared aspirations, our unity, and our collective commitment to the development and transformation of our constituency,” Musasizi said. “Thank you for standing with me, for believing in my vision, and for participating actively in the democratic process.”
Looking ahead to the 2026 general elections, Musasizi urged voters to maintain the momentum of civic engagement.
“Voting is not just a right, it is our voice, our power, and our path to shaping the future of Rubanda East. Let us turn out in even greater numbers, encourage our neighbors, and demonstrate our community’s unity and strength,” he emphasized.
He reiterated his dedication to supporting President Museveni’s vision of transitioning all households into the money economy, noting that tangible development interventions would be at the core of his legislative agenda.
