The event, organized by the Akright City Residents Association in Bwebajja along Entebbe road, aimed to raise funds for essential road safety infrastructure such as signage, speed bumps, and mirrors to enhance accident prevention and safeguard lives in the area.

While acknowledging the government’s efforts in road infrastructure development, Minister Musasizi highlighted the indispensable role of road users in mitigating accidents by adhering to safety guidelines and reducing speed.
Minister Musasizi also underscored the importance of physical exercise in maintaining good health and safeguarding lives during his address.
In addition to emphasizing the significance of physical activity, Minister Musasizi highlighted plans to bolster infrastructure, particularly in Kitende and its environs, using proceeds from oil revenues to improve road networks within Kampala Capital City.

Rotarian Teddy Nabakooza Galiwango, President of the Akright City Residents Association stated that “Investing in road safety is a collective responsibility,” explaining the motivation behind organizing the run.

Nabakooza cited numerous reports of accidents within the city resulting in significant loss of life, emphasizing the community’s duty to secure roads for the safety of children and residents.

The run, which commenced around 6:30 AM and covered nearly 10 kilometers, serves as an annual event integrated with sports and other activities to foster community cohesion and promote a sense of togetherness among residents in the area.
