The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has opened recruitment for district administrative secretaries, with the exercise scheduled to run from October 1 to October 31.

In a September 24 letter to all district chairpersons, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong directed district executive committees (DECs) to advertise the positions through local radio stations and other media platforms.

The DECs will receive applications, shortlist eligible candidates and conduct interviews before recommending three candidates to the Secretary General for consideration and appointment by the Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Todwong said at least one of the three candidates recommended by each district must be a woman, in line with the party’s constitutional provisions on gender balance.

Applicants are required to provide proof of NRM membership and demonstrate active participation in the party’s mobilisation activities.

The guidelines further require applicants to have no criminal or disciplinary record with the party.

Serving administrative secretaries are also eligible to apply but will be subjected to the same recruitment and vetting process.

Successful candidates will serve as full-time NRM employees responsible for coordinating party programmes at district level and linking district structures with the national secretariat.

The administrative secretaries will also serve as ex-officio members of the DEC, without voting rights, provide secretariat services to district conferences and implement decisions of the district conference.

The recruitment process will include advertisement and receipt of applications, preliminary verification and shortlisting, interviews and assessment, followed by the recommendation of three candidates by each DEC.

The Secretary General will conduct the final vetting and verification, while the CEC will make the final appointment and determine the terms and conditions of service.

Each district has been given one month to complete the recruitment, interviews, documentation and submission of recommendations.

The DECs are required to rank the three recommended candidates in order of preference and submit their application documents and interview score sheets for consideration.

Todwong will coordinate and communicate the final decision of the CEC to the respective districts.
