The Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) and National Resistance Movement (NRM) Registrar in Rukungiri District has been arrested for allegedly forging an NRM election declaration form.
The suspect, identified as Wright Mwongyera, 36, a resident of Rushoroza “A” Cell, Rushoroza Parish in Rwerere Sub-county, is accused of forging the declaration form on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Rukungiri District Main Hall.
According to Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Elly Maate, Mwongyera, while serving as the District Registrar, deliberately altered and signed the final declaration form for the Rubabo County NRM Parliamentary primaries for men, with intent to defraud and mislead.
A case file was opened and forwarded to the Resident State Attorney (RSA) for legal guidance, which resulted in its sanctioning.
Maate confirmed that the suspect will be arraigned in court to face charges related to forgery and election malpractice.
