A cook at Nyamweru Seed Secondary School in Rubanda District has allegedly been fired for refusing to denounce her support for the Minister of Finance (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, who is also the Member of Parliament for Rubanda East County.
Gloria Tuhaise, a resident of Kobusinde Village, Kakyenaga Parish in Nyamweru Sub-county, claims she was dismissed by the school’s head teacher, Medard Turamyomwe, on Tuesday after openly declaring her long-standing support for Minister Musasizi.
Tuhaise, who had spent nine years as a cook at the school, says the dismissal took place during a cooks’ meeting convened by Turamyomwe. During the meeting, the head teacher reportedly asked the staff to reveal which aspirants they supported in the ongoing National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.
She told our reporter that most of the cooks, fearing for their jobs, declared support for Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, Turamyomwe’s preferred candidate. However, when it was her turn, Tuhaise stated that she supports Minister Musasizi, prompting Turamyomwe to dismiss her on the spot, allegedly saying the school would not employ anyone aligned with Musasizi.
Tuhaise also claims that she had previously been summoned to a Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) meeting by the head teacher to explain her support for Musasizi. She says she maintained her position and refused to be intimidated into switching allegiance.

However, when contacted for a comment, Turamyomwe defended himself, stating that he was not aware of the matter.
