President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has strongly condemned the manipulation of election results, tampering with voter registers, the use of violence, including incidents that led to deaths and injuries and the bribing of voters with money and materials during the recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries.
In a statement issued on Sunday, President Museveni described the perpetrators as “unpatriotic actors” and warned that they would be prosecuted, starting with those who altered election results.
“We are going to prosecute these mistake-makers. The easiest to start with are those who altered results,” he said.
The President revealed that, according to a source within the NRM, approximately 9.22 million party members participated in the primaries held on July 17, 2025.
This represents nearly 50% of the party’s 18.5 million confirmed members as of May 6, 2025.
Museveni noted that this turnout, especially on a mid-week working day, was commendable.
