KAMPALA – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has strongly condemned the four armed terrorists responsible for the tragic incident that claimed 10 lives on Monday night in Kyitehurizi village, Kyabandara parish, Kamwenge sub-county, Kamwenge District, near the expansive Kibaale forest.

Museveni identified the assailants as remnants of the Njovu-Kamusu group of 10, which infiltrated Uganda from Congo for the second time several weeks ago. Despite temporarily returning to Congo, they re-entered Uganda.

The President revealed that two members were neutralized in Lake Edward by the marines, while their leader, Njovu, was captured, injured, and is now facing charges in court.

Museveni instructed the State House Comptroller to provide financial assistance to the bereaved families in Kamwenge and the courageous girl who escaped the attackers.

The coordination of this support will be overseen by the Woman MP for Kamwenge in collaboration with the State House Comptroller.

He commended the escaped girl for her bravery, emphasizing the importance of her alertness in exposing the terrorists who wielded pangas to avoid alerting the hostile population with gunshots.

President Museveni asserted that the perpetrators, referred to as “four pigs,” and their associates would face justice if they refused to surrender and renounce terrorism.

The 10 victims in the Kamwenge attack comprised crop night watchmen guarding against monkeys and Bavuumbi, who were found in a local bar.

A week prior, the CMI and SFC Commandos took down three members of the group, including Kamusu, the leader who succeeded Njovu.

In response to ongoing infiltrations from Congo, Museveni directed the UPDF to reactivate Local Defence Units (LDUs) around Queen Elizabeth National Parks, Kibaale Forests, Kyenjojo and Kagadi forests, Semuliki National Park, and Bwindi National Park.
