President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister of Kenya, on 15th October 2025.
In a statement, President Museveni described Odinga as more than a career politician, calling him a freedom fighter who carried forward the legacy of his late father, Jaramogi Odinga, Kenya’s first Vice-President.
“Rt. Hon. Odinga and his father shared a patriotic and Pan-Africanist vision,” Museveni said. “I have had the privilege of exchanging ideas with both of them. Their work has consistently supported unity in Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent, including the dream of an East African Federation.”
President Museveni noted that Odinga’s passing leaves a significant void and urged young people to carry forward the legacy of historical African leaders.
He extended condolences to Kenyan President William Ruto, the people of Kenya, and the Odinga family, praying that Raila Odinga’s soul may rest in eternal peace.
