RUKUNGIRI: Police probes the Murder of 60-year-old-man

RUKUNGIRI- Police in Rukungiri district are currently hunting for unknown suspects that allegedly murdered a 60 years old man identified as Joseph Bashobeirwe, a resident of Kakatenga cell Kihanga Parish Buhunga sub county in Rukungiri district over unknown reason.

It’s alleged that on the 16/04/2023 in the morning hours at around 10:00am, the deceased left his home to the garden in the uphill in Kakatenga village.

Its further alleged that at around 01:00pm in the afternoon one Maurice Kyomugisha who was at home located opposite the hill, heard the deceased making an alarm that he was being murdered.

She responded by making an alarm for the rescue of the deceased.

The Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate says that unfortunately, on reaching there, Kyomugisha found the deceased already dead and the assailant had already taken off.

According to Maate, Kyomugisha immediately informed the relatives and local leaders.

Maate adds that police at Buhunga police station were notified by the Buhunga sub county GISO Stella Kamusme, scene was visited and documented, exhibit of a panga recovered and body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem.

Maate says that the Suspects are still at large.

He called upon anyone who may be having clues that can lead to those who did it, to volunteer it so that perpetrators are brought to book as inquiries are ongoing.
