Police in Kisoro District are investigating circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 50-year-old Rwandan woman who died aboard a bus while travelling from Uganda to Rwanda.
The deceased has been identified as Bubeneri Sylvia, a resident of Kinyababa Sub-county in Burera District, Rwanda.
According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at around 11am after the management of Friendship Bus Company reported that a passenger had been found unresponsive aboard bus registration number UBL 996L, which was travelling from Kampala to Kisoro.
Police responded to the incident and conveyed the body to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
“The body was conveyed to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death,” SP Tumushime said.
Police said further information will be provided as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death progress.
