During a meeting at the UNGU headquarters in Mogadishu, Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Peter Ruyogoza Barigye emphasized the significance of gender equality and collaboration in maintaining a professional and effective force.
“It is essential that female personnel work alongside their male counterparts in a professional and respectful environment. I am committed to ensuring that everyone feels respected, valued, and supported,” Lt. Col. Ruyogoza stated.

Major Topista Opar Giramia, the Gender and Female Engagement Team (FET) Officer, highlighted the importance of such discussions in enhancing operational effectiveness and fostering a more inclusive and professional workplace.
The meeting was attended by the UNGU Deputy Commander, Maj. Jacob Gowan, along with other staff officers.
