The Curate of Christ the King Catholic Parish in Kabale Municipality, Rev. Fr. Mathias Kwehangana, has strongly condemned what he termed as the growing signs of dictatorship, abuse of power, and human rights violations in Uganda.

Delivering his Easter homily on Sunday, Rev. Fr. Kwehangana expressed deep disappointment with senior Ugandan leaders who once championed values such as forgiveness, unity, democracy, and freedom, but now appear to have abandoned those principles.

He criticized the leadership for exhibiting dictatorial tendencies, misusing authority, violating human rights, and persecuting those who challenge poor governance.

The cleric further stressed the importance of empowering the boy child, warning that the current emphasis on girl child empowerment, while commendable, should not come at the expense of boys.

He cautioned that the imbalance could lead to future marital conflicts, with couples potentially struggling for dominance.

He also raised concerns over pressing social issues, including drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, and other behaviors that threaten family and community cohesion.
