RUBANDA: All Saint’s Rushayu COU Struggles for Permanent Home, Bolstered by Businesswoman Anna Asiimwe’s Donation of 60 Iron Sheets & Nails

RUBANDA – The All Saints Rushayu Church of Uganda in Kagyera Parish, Bufundi Sub County of Rubanda West County in Rubanda District, is currently facing a significant challenge. Authorities are striving to gather more than 200 million shillings to fund the construction of their recently inaugurated church.

This church emerged as a separate entity from St. Mark Kagyera Parish under the umbrella of Kacerere Archdeaconry in 2020. The separation was spurred by the dedication of the churchgoers, who managed to secure a parcel of land through a generous donation from Wilson Ruhangariyo, an active member of the congregation.

According to David Byasigaraho, the Zombo Resident District Commissioner and a synod member of St. Mark Kagyera Church of Uganda Parish, this decision was born out of a desire to aid the Christian community that would otherwise have to travel more than seven kilometers to attend services at St. Mark Kagyera Church of Uganda.

Upon visiting the church, our reporter noted that three years after its establishment, the worshippers were still utilizing a rudimentary, wooden structure lacking a proper roof for their prayers. This makeshift setup was far from ideal, leaving them exposed to the elements during their worship.

To alleviate this predicament, Anna Asiimwe, a businesswoman residing in Kakore within Hamurwa Town Council, generously donated 60 iron sheets valued at over two million shillings. These iron sheets will contribute towards the improvement of the church’s current situation.

Rev. Justus Byomuhangi, the parish priest of St. Mark Kagyera Church of Uganda, expressed his gratitude for the donation. He revealed that while the congregation had managed to pool resources to erect a provisional structure using timber and poles for their prayers, financial constraints had prevented them from erecting a more substantial semi-permanent church.
