Sheikh Khabu Lule, the Kabale District Khadi, has urged members of the public to strictly observe Standard Operating Procedures-SOPs to help prevent the spread of the deadly Ebola disease, which has been confirmed in Uganda and the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC.
Sheikh Lule made the call on Wednesday during Eid al-Adha prayers and celebrations held at Al Madina Stadium in Kirigime, Kabale District.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the spread of Ebola in the region. Uganda’s Ministry of Health recently reported two new Ebola cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to seven. According to the ministry, the latest cases involve health workers at a private health facility in Kampala.
Sheikh Lule cautioned the public against engaging in activities that could put lives at risk and emphasized the need for vigilance to curb the spread of the disease.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the Cabinet list released by President Museveni on Tuesday, saying Muslims were not adequately considered for key ministerial positions.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Kabale Muslim District Supreme Council, Hajji Issa Tindyebwa, condemned corruption in government, saying it has significantly hindered the country’s development.
Tindyebwa urged government to intensify the crackdown on corrupt officials, describing the ongoing anti-corruption efforts on Anita Annet Among, the former Speaker of Parliament as a positive step toward restoring accountability.
According to him, many Ugandans had long been concerned that anti-corruption campaigns mainly targeted lower-ranking leaders and ordinary citizens, while senior government officials remained untouched. He welcomed the recent move by President Museveni and relevant authorities to extend investigations to high-ranking officials who had previously evaded accountability.
