Kigezi Homeboyz Football Club from Kabale District in southwestern Uganda has avoided relegation from the FUFA Big League after securing a crucial 1-0 victory against MYDA FC.

The decisive goal was scored by Joseph Seremba in a tense and hotly contested encounter held at the Kigezi Homeboyz Al-Madinah Stadium in Kabale Municipality on Saturday. Seremba was named Player of the season.

With this victory, Kigezi Homeboyz concluded the season with 33 points from 28 matches, ensuring their stay in the second-tier league.

Head coach Denis Tushabe described the match as a “do-or-die” affair, with both teams needing a win to stay afloat.

“It wasn’t an easy game. We’ve won 1-0. Congratulations to the boys, but most importantly, we thank the fans who came in large numbers and lifted the team’s morale. Without them, I don’t think we would have made it,” Tushabe said.

He added that the club is now focused on strengthening the squad ahead of the next season.
